Reworking the Bamboo Website and Social Media platform
Wow. A long today. Totally focused on the Bamboo Bar and Grill's new website. We are basically building it from the ground up.. the menu has changed, the clients have change and so should the website. When designing the website, I really wanted to keep it simple for people to use but also make it a place that people could go to get good information about Alki and the rest of the beach scene in Seattle. We really do live in a killer area... and the Bamboo needs a killer website. That is where I come in. I am the nerd behind the whole thing.. the guy behind the guy. Yes, I do love my share of partying and getting all jacked up on vodka tonics, but now is not the time for that. The Bamboo has changed from what it once was. It is my job to bring it back to its former glory. I want to make the Bamboo Bar and Grill a community surf bar. Somewhere anyone can come and enjoy themselves, but especially West Seattle folks. So how do we do that, digitally?
Well we start with the basics. Attention to the food and drink.... The Bamboo have focused on hiring professional... you know what? This is not my job. My job is how to I get people down here to enjoy our great drink and food specials, promote events and connect with people digitally. Since the new owner has spent tons of time on the menu and bar, I can just focus on promoting the Bamboo as a whole, I trust that he will do what needs to be done once you get here. So, that being said, lets get down to work.
First thing we needed to do is get a website up and rolling, and that we have. Yes, it needs work still, but we have the basics up and going. Next we need to get our Facebook house in order. Bamboo currently has 3, yes 3 Facebook pages.. that is BS. So I have started the consolidation process and we are going to start migrating people from our old "human" page over to our correct FAN page. We also have another Fan page that has 36 people on it.. I will migrate those folks soon.
Next was to make sure we had the management buy in on the communication methods. Currently, all communications come through me... not because I am power hungry nerd, but because we need 1 word and a ton of focus. If the current folks, bartenders, GM's want to say something out to our social networks, they come through me.. at least for now.
Ok, website (almost done), Facebook consolidation (in progress), next is... going to be in my next blog post.
